Monthly Meeting Announcement
June  21, 2024 Meeting

For the June 21 program, Chris and Elizabeth Guenzler will present a program covering their journey to and from the NRHS Spring Conference held May 4-6 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Several stations were visited and a few unexpected surprises were found en route.

The conference's second day was a exclusive tour of the Iowa Interstate headquarters, two shop tours, a train ride from South Amana to Silvis, Illinois, where the group was given a tour of the Railroading Heritage of Midwest America shops.  That group is currently restoring Union Pacific 3985 Challenger and Union Pacific 5511 Santa Fe Type steam locomotives. They also have the U.P. Centennial DDA40X  #6936 along with former Union Pacific passenger cars such as #5480 Sunshine Special, #5468 Katy Flyer, #5486 City of Salina, and #5473 Portland Rose that were once used on Central Coast and Pacific Limited Excursions.

July 19, 2024 Meeting

For the July 19 meeting, we will have a “Fireside Chat” with NRHS Director Skip Waters. This is your chance to ask questions of one of the National NRHS Officers. It is hoped to help further communication between National and the chapters and bring the two groups closer together.  You will be able to ask questions on any of the NRHS programs such as Conventions, Quarterly conferences, Grants, Plaques, membership directions, more thoughts on how chapters fit in with the National Organization, etc. Come with your thoughts and discussion items.attraction.

Regular monthly membership meetings are both in person and on Zoom, while Board meetings are now online-only.

Book Sale Update!

Central Coast received a donation of many railroad-related books from longtime member Conrad Gleason. The collection includes about 1000 hardcover books, and another 1000 in soft bindings. We will offer these for sale at the next several Chapter meetings. Since it is not practical to transport all of the books to the meetings, we will bring a small, random subset about 100 to each meeting.

Many of the books are listed online with prices at http://members.trainorders.com/clem.  We will update the list as time permits. If you wish to purchase any of these titles please send an email expressing the title or titles you wish to buy and the date you will be attending a meeting to: central_coast_chapter@yahoo.com.
