This month’s meeting of the Central Coast Chapter, NRHS, will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 7:30
p.m. in the meeting room of the South Bay Historical Railroad Society located in the Santa Clara Depot, 1005 Railroad Avenue, Santa Clara. Everyone is invited to attend.  

For the April 19th meeting, Scott Gerken will be presenting a show consisting of two sections, North America and Europe.  The North America section will be short and contain a few shots from Alaska, Yukon Territory, and British Columbia.  The European section will be longer and contain trains and trams in Munich’s Deutsches Verkehrszentrum Transport Museum, Hungarian National Railway Museum, Budapest Children’s Railway and current rail transit in Budapest.
 

May 17, 2024 Meeting

For the May 17 program, Stephen Johnson will be doing a program on the Pacifica Historical Society's program on their restoration of the Ocean Shore Railroad Passenger Car. For twenty years the Pacifica Historical Society has been working to restore the last remaining Ocean Shore Railroad passenger car. Hear the remarkable story of how it was found, then moved to Pacifica, then moved twice, then moved to its present location. See the detailed work on the car that has been done so far, and the work that remains to be done. Finally, hear about their vision for the car's future as an educational site and tourist attraction. 

Regular monthly membership meetings are both in person and on Zoom, while Board meetings are now online-only.

Central Coast received a donation of many railroad-related books from longtime member Conrad Gleason. The collection includes about 1000 hardcover books, and another 1000 in soft bindings. We will offer these for sale at the next several Chapter meetings. Since it is not practical to transport all of the books to the meetings, we will bring a small, random subset about 100 to each meeting.

We meet each month at the historic Santa Clara CalTrain depot, 1005 Railroad Avenue, on the 3rd Friday of each month. Doors open at 7:00 and the meeting starts promptly at 7:30pm. Our monthly program starts after a short business meeting. Members and non-members are welcome! Want to do some railfanning prior to your visit?
