Amtrak FP7A 117 and 123 (in Amtrak's version of a patch scheme) leave the East Bay behind as they lean into a curve with their three car train on June 16, 1976. The roof-mounted  iccicle breakers on the F-units were a hold over from SP days when the units held down assignments on the City Of San Francisco. How effective this piece of ad hoc snow fighting equipment was is anybody's guess. (Ken Rattenne Collection)
