SP's Milpitas Line
Paralleling Western Pacific's line through Milpitas was Southern Pacific, which had built its' line through town nearly a half century before as part of the original Transcontinental railroad.

Southern Pacific's Milpitas line connects San Jose with the Niles District of Fremont. The line sprouts from the Coast Line in San Jose, veering off into College Park Yard at milepost 45.2. The line continues through downtown San Jose before emerging into Milpitas and eventually Warm Springs and Niles.
